Melody Anderson, MSW, ‘00
From 1997-2002, Melody created and coordinated the Family & Friends Program and the Intensive
Outpatient Program at Hazelden, New York. She completed Level II training in EMOR and spoke nationally
and internationally on addiction and families. Melody is currently writing a book to help parents
with children who are substance abusers. She is in private practice in New York, specializing in treating addicts and families.
Sari Eckler Cooper, LCSW, ‘97
Sari completed a year-long training in sex therapy at the Center for Sexual and Relationship Health at
the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She is a new member of AASECT, SSTAR and ISSWSH (International Society for
the Study of Women’s Health). She is integrating sex therapy into her individual’s and couples’
private practice on the Upper West Side, and accepts referrals for individuals and couples with sexual complaints as
the presenting problem, in addition to individuals and couples with more traditional issues.

Ellen is currently Director of the 9/11 Mental Health Programs at Safe Horizon and is about to expand her
private practice. Additionally, she has done presentations on Vicarious Trauma.

Sara is currently working with the Center for the Developing Child and Family at Ackerman. At the Healthy Families
Program in New York City, she trains staff on child development, parent-child attachment, working with challenging
families, identifying children with special needs, and supervising home visiting staff.

Priska has made several presentations this year. On May 7, 2007, she presented “ Healing Trauma and Loss Through a
Community-Based Multi-Family Group with Latino Immigrants” with Keren Ludwig, Raymond Rodriguez and Lorraine Beauleau
at the 50th Anniversary Conference of the Wurzweiler School of Social Work, Yeshiva University : Celebrating a Tradition
of Caring: Social Work Practice Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. On June 8, 2007, with Raymond Rodriguez, she presented “
Immigration Trauma and Loss” at the Diversity and Strengths of the Latino Family: Immigration and Social Justice at Stony
Brook University , NY . Priska also was a guest speaker on October 4, 2007 at the Human Behavior in the Social Environment
I class at the Adelphi University School of Social Work. She spoke on “The Experience of Immigration, Including the Trauma
of Integration.” In addition, her article, Who Resides Behind the Words? Exploring and Understanding the Language of
the Non-English Speaking Immigrant, was published in the Feb/March 2007 issue of the Journal of Families in Society
and was selected as required reading for the Advanced Social Work Practice with Individuals class (Fall 2007) at the Adelphi
University School of Social Work.

Mary Beth is co-teaching Ackerman’s Foundations in Family Therapy course, which began in September 2007.
Frédéric La Belle, MFA, ‘74
Frédéric has written two articles in French on Multiple Family Therapy and Substance Abuse. Additionally,
he is currently co-Director of Systemic Training in France. Previously, Frédéric spent more than 30 years of
teaching in Québec, Europe ( France, Switzerland and Belgium) and Ireland. He had a presentation in Glasgow October 4-6,
2007 on multiple family therapy in Brittany ( France). He is a member of AFTA, EFTA, IFTA, Virginia Satir Global
Network, AGPA, NRCGP and AAMFT.
Phoebe Prosky, MSW, ‘66
Phoebe is looking for a publisher for a manuscript she wrote tentatively titled Whither Family Therapy: A Foray into Zen Thought
as a New Frontier. She will be going to the IFTA Congress in Portugal in March as Coordinator of the Training Division.
Mimi Renchner, MSW, MFT, ACSW, ‘82
Mimi’s “wonderful Ackerman training” has enabled her to practice family therapy and couple work with
great skill. She is grateful for the high caliber of training she received, and continues in private practice in two locations.

Rebecca is pursuing her PhD at the New York University School of Social Work.
Lisa Rosenberg, MSW, LCSW, ‘01
In January, 2006, Lisa presented at Temple Ner Tamid in Bloomfield, NJ on multiracial Jewish identity. A shorter version
of the same presentation was published in Interfaithfamilies.com and in the New Jersey Jewish News in the spring/summer
of 2006. She continues offering individual and group work with interracial couples and families and with mixed race teens.
Helen Wintrob, PhD, ‘85
As an Ackerman graduate, Helen sees the world as one big “system.” Her current professional focus is on family
configuration from a pluralistic lens, and she works with families who have elderly members and do not present like The Waltons.
She also performs neuropsychological evaluations and helps families deal with the implications of their children’s diseases.
She is a single woman who adopted her daughter, Julie, at birth 14 years ago. Julie began high school at Elisabeth Irwin this fall.
