Elana Katz, LCSW

A graduate of the Hunter College School of Social Work, Elana Katz, LCSW, was on the faculty of the Yale School of Medicine when she completed her postgraduate training at the Ackerman Institute in 1981.

Upon completing her training, Ms. Katz joined the faculty at Ackerman where she continues to teach and supervise family therapy. She has recently joined Ackerman’s Center for the Developing Child and Family where she developed a protocol for prenatal groups that focus on attachment issues. Ms. Katz brought the field of divorce mediation to the Institute and she co-directs a training program that includes mediation services. She has presented widely on the topic of divorced and remarried families, including national meetings of the Psychotherapy Networker, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the American Family Therapy Academy.

In addition to her work at the Institute, Ms. Katz works privately in New York City as a therapist, mediator, and parent coordinator.
