Robert C Smith, PhD, is Associate Professor in Sociology, specializing in Immigration Studies and Public Affairs at Baruch College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. A scholar of immigration, transnationalism, and globalization, Dr Smith is the author of Mexican New York: Transnational Lives of New Immigrants, which received the American Sociological Association award for best book on migration.
