Summer Clinical Practicum

Description

This one-month program offers an opportunity to develop specific skills in family therapy through simulation and live-family interviews. Students work in a small-group format as a consultation team in addition to conducting individual therapy interviews. Students learn relational interviewing skills and systemic approaches to change.

Eligibility: A primary degree in social work, clinical psychology or psychiatry.

Faculty: Richard Johnson, PhD, LCSW, is a 1993 graduate of the Ackerman Externship Program. Currently teaching family therapy at Ackerman and the Columbia University School of Social Work, Dr. Johnson is also Director of Training at the Jewish Child Care Association, and maintains a private practice in Hell’s Kitchen on Manhattan’s West Side with individuals, couples and families.

Date: Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, June 4 – June 29, 2012, 12 sessions
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Tuition: $2,400. Tuition is due upon acceptance into the program.
CE Credits: 60
