Couples Therapy: A Conceptual Map For The Psycho-analytically Trained Clinician

Description

This course provides a conceptual framework for treating couples within a systemic approach informed by psychoanalytic and neurobiological considerations. Course participants read classic and contemporary papers on couple therapy and study videotaped sessions that demonstrate a variety of styles and techniques. The instructor provides consultation on cases presented by course participants.

Faculty: Susan M. Shimmerlik, Ph.D., faculty, Ackerman Institute for the Family; faculty, Adelphi University Postdoctoral Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy

Time:   Tuesdays, beginning September 18, 2012          12 p.m. – 2 p.m.    15 sessions

Tuition: $1,700. Deposit of $850 payable upon acceptance into the program. Balance is due by September 1.
