Increasing Family Engagement in Your School
Competent Kids, Caring Communities (CKCC), a social-emotional learning program of Ackerman Institute for the Family, is delighted to offer a workshop that will focus on deepening participants’ understanding of what it means for families to be “engaged” with educators and what it means for educators to be “engaged” with families and their communities. Furthermore, this workshop will provide practical tools for family engagement, which educators and school mental health professionals can bring back to their settings.
Participants will gain the following from this professional development session: clarification of the differences between “Coordinated,” “Cooperative,” and “Collaborative” family-school relationships; deeper understandings of your school setting’s perspective on family engagement; new tools for increasing family involvement in your school; and specific techniques for involving parents in their child’s education, whether or not they are able to come to school.
Each participant will receive one copy of Competent Kids, Caring Communities’ Family-School Collaboration Manual.
