John R. O’Neill
John O'Neill holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Fairfield University and a master of Business Administration in Taxation from the Iona College Graduate School of Business. His present civic/charitable affiliations include Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University, member of Executive Board and Treasurer of the Ackerman Institute for the Family. John is the Americas Director of Private Equity for Ernst & Young. He has been a transaction advisor for many large and medium-size private equity funds during his career, including The Blackstone Group, The Carlyle Group, Centre Partners, Dubin Clark, Evercore Partners, Goldman Sachs, GSC Partners, JP Morgan Partners, Madison Dearborn Partners, Oakhill Partners, Saugatuck Partners and UBS Capital. John specializes in tax issues related to M&A structuring and due diligence. John has been with Ernst & Young for over five years. Prior to joining E&Y, he spent 24 years with Arthur Andersen where he was managing partner of Andersen’s Global Private Equity Practice and the US Transaction Advisory Services Practice. John has extensive experience in the areas of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, leveraged buyouts, bankruptcy, debt workout, cross-border transactions, retail and distribution, consumer products and manufacturing industries. John is the author of the chapter “Tax Aspects of Bankruptcy Sales and Acquisitions” in the treatise, Bankruptcy Business Acquisitions (Lex Med Publishing, 2002). He is also a member of the Private Equity Leadership Network which brings together managing directors from more than a dozen of the largest private equity firms in the United States.
