Dee Watts-Jones, PhD

thandiwe Dee Watts-Jones, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, and a faculty member of the Ackerman Institute for the Family. Dr. Watts-Jones received her PhD from Duke University, and her family therapy training at the Family Institute of Westchester, where she was a teaching fellow. She was an American Psychological Association Minority Fellow, and an American Association of University Women Fellow.

Currently, in addition to her Ackerman affiliation, Dr. Watts-Jones maintains a private practice in New Rochelle, N.Y. and is part of the planning committee for the next generation of what has been known as the Culture Conference, historically sponsored by the Multicultural Family Institute. Dr. Watts-Jones has published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Social Work, Psychology of Women Quarterly, and Family Process on stress and African-American women, mentoring trainees of color, and addressing issues of social location, oppression and internalized oppression in treatment with populations of color.
