This eight session course teaches participants how to write for publication. Issues include choosing a topic, organizing the work, developing themes and sub-themes within an article, finding a writing “voice,” discerning the audience (scholarly or lay readers), working with editors’ feedback, revising an article, and examining the worlds of scholarly and popular publishing.
The course meets monthly, giving participants ample opportunity to work on their writing between classes. Participants are expected to bring written work for class and instructor feedback, given in the context of a positive, constructive atmosphere. Participants can expect to have a very good start on a paper for submission by the end of this course.
