Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy

4 Day Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy with Sue Johnson—First Time Offered in New York!

Through a combination of lecture, videotape, observation of live interviews and exercises, participants will learn the basic concepts and theory of emotionally focused therapy; identify the stages and steps of treatment; begin to formulate problematic cycles of interaction; and help couples end cycles of blame and disengagement so that they can restore and deepen the emotional bond between them.

Sue Johnson 's second edition of her book, The Practice of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy: Creating Connections, is recommended reading for participants in the summer program.

Faculty: Sue Johnson, EdD, with Elana Katz, LCSW , is an international expert in the field of marital therapy. She is a Professor of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa and founding Director of the Ottawa Couple and Family Institute.
