- The Relational Level: The impact of migration on nuclear and extended family relationships; Separations and reunions and other migration relational stresses; Constructing a migration narrative; Selecting and implementing appropriate therapeutic interventions.

- Case Illustration: Consultation illustrating relational stresses of separation between mother and child.

- The Community Level: Loss and recovery of social capital; Taking the ecological context into account in the presenting problem and interventions.
- Transnationals as absentee members of their original communities; Binational interventions; Use of community based programs.
2:30-3:30 pm
- The Cultural-Sociopolitical: Incorporating cultural diversity and social justice as necessary clinical tools for the treatment of immigrants; Relevant concepts include collectivism/individualism, family organization, and gender socialization.
3:30-4:30
- The Immigrant's Paradox: Including advantages and pitfalls of cultural retention and long distance family and community connections in treatment decisions
- Integrative Case Illustrations: Learning to integrate all the parts of the model in treatment planning, goals, and implementation
