Astin Brown, LCSW and Rebecca Ross, LCSW, members of the Gender and Family Project, presented the first lecture of this year’s Ackerman Alumni lecture series with Between Pink & Blue: A Multidimensional Approach to Supporting Families of Gender Expansive Youth. The October 7th lecture reviewed parental reactions to nonconforming gender developments of their children, posing that the parental mandates of protection and acceptance are problematized by the difference of gender norms between the child and the family, as well as the child and environment.
