Renound family therapist Rhea V. Almeida, MS, PhD joined the Ackerman Alumni Association lecture series last week to present Critical Consciousness as a Foundational Structure for Healing Practices. Dr. Almeida’s rich presentation explored ways in which personal dynamics are intrinsically embedded within social, economic, and political contexts, as she illustrated through videotaped case presentations and experiential interaction with lecture attendees. Ackerman faculty member, David Kezur, LCSW opened the evening with introductory words about Dr. Almeida’s impressive history as a family therapist, trainer, founder, and author. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to host Dr. Almeida for this powerful and enlightening evening!
