Janine Weisenbeck, LMSW. Prior to her work as a therapist, Janine worked at a child welfare agency in Toronto and at Safe Horizon in New York City, a non-profit organization that works to minimize family and community violence. She completed an internship at the Children’s Defense Fund, researching federal funding for education for youth in the juvenile justice system, as well as policy alternatives to zero tolerance discipline policies in schools. Janine’s clinical work has been focused on children and families.
Her clinical work at Ackerman began in 2011, and she is a graduate of the Clinical Externship program. She holds a BA in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Toronto, an MSW from New York University’s Silverman School of Social Work, and is currently finishing her law degree focusing on family law and human rights law at Fordham University. Janine was raised in Ontario, Canada. She resides in New York with her husband and two children.
