Founded in 1960, the Ackerman Institute for the Family (AIF) is one of the premier institutions for family therapy in the United States. The Institute serves diverse families at all stages of family life by offering a wide variety of programs that address a broad array of issues and concerns. Ackerman is also one of the best-known and most highly regarded training facilities for family therapists.
Ackerman Clinic Associates are essential members of the Clinic Team and primarily work on Friday and Saturday. They expand our capacity to address the demand for family therapy and better meet the community’s need for flexible scheduling.
Clinic Associate (Part-Time; Hours are variable; min. 4 weekly therapy hours + clinical supervision)
Purpose of the Position:
Reporting to the Clinical Director, with support from a clinical supervisor, Clinic Associates are responsible for providing therapeutic services to families through the Ackerman Institute for the Family’s New York State Office of Mental Health, Article 31 Clinic. Clinic Associates are skilled at working collaboratively, and providing clear, clinical documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide weekly couple and family therapy at the Institute on a Friday or Saturday.
- A minimum caseload of four families is required.
- Maintain up-to-date, timely, electronic chart records that include treatment plans and session notes.
- Must be available for regular clinical supervision.
Applicants must have graduated from the Ackerman Institute’s Clinical Externship program within the last 2 years. Must hold a current and valid license to practice mental health independently in the state of New York such as LCSW, LMHC, or licensed psychologist.
$40 per 60-minute session.
