Expired Alumni Lecture | Once More With Feeling: The EFT Model and Couples Therapy

This Alumni Lecture is presented by the Ackerman Alumni Association. Alumni Lectures are open to all mental health professionals. Alumni Association members with dues in good standing may attend free of charge. Admission includes a light dinner reception.

Description:

This Alumni Lecture will provide a frame to both understand and shift the recurring patterns that erode love and connection in many distressed couples. Using lecture, an experiential exercise and a videotape of clinical material, participants will see Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) come to life as a process that can come alongside the pain and reactivity of relational distress and help clients replace their disconnection with cycles of attunement and responsiveness.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the foundation of attachment and the good reasons for attachment protest
  • Learn three techniques to utilize with distressed couples
  • Learn the specific meaning and impact of enactments in EFT
