Introduction to Family Systems Therapy is an introduction to systems theory and the various models of family therapy, including the Ackerman Relational Approach (ARA). This 30-week course is part of the Ackerman Institute’s Clergy and Family Systems Certificate Program.

Course Description

Introduction to Family Systems Therapy is an introduction to systems theory and the various models of family therapy, including the Ackerman Relational Approach (ARA), as it applies to ministerial counseling.

This 60-hour course will be held online and includes meetings with expert faculty, dynamic discussion, readings, and take-home assignments.

At Ackerman we view systems theory as an integral part of working with couple and family relationships and strive to provide the highest quality training. We welcome clergy, priests, rabbis, imams, religious leaders, and other allied professionals to enhance your knowledge and practice.

Course Policy

Introduction to Family Systems Therapy is the first of four 30-week courses included in Ackerman’s Certificate Program in Clergy and Family Systems. This course may be taken separately from the certificate program for professional learning and development. To earn the Ackerman certificate, you must enroll in the full certificate program and complete these courses sequentially.

Courses taken without prior certificate program enrollment will not count toward future certification from Ackerman.
