Christiana I. Awosan, Ph.D., is a Licensed Marriage/Couple and Family therapist, educator and researcher. Dr. Awosan graduated from Drexel University with a PhD in Couple and Family Therapy. She is an Associate Faculty of the Eikenberg Academy for Social Justice in New York, New York. She was formerly at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey as an Assistant Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program. Dr. Awosan is currently an Assistant Professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Iona College in New Rochelle, New York. She is also the Director of Ibisanmi Relational Health in Manhattan, New York and Maplewood, New Jersey.
Dr. Awosan’s research focuses on diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Her publications address cultural responsive clinical practices and effective training of Marriage and Family Therapists. She conducts national and international trainings and seminars on issues related to understanding sociocultural trauma such as racial trauma on the mental, emotional and relational lives of People of Color.
Dr. Awosan is an AAMFT clinical fellow and Approved Supervisor. She services on the editorial board of the Journal of Family Psychotherapy. Dr. Awosan has published in a number of peer-reviewed journal such as Journal of Marital and Family Therapy and several book chapters in books such as Revisioning Family Therapy: Addressing Diversity in Clinical Practice.
