Tara Starin-Basi

Tara Starin-Basi, LCSW is a graduate of the Ackerman Institute’s Clinical Externship Program and is a Teaching Fellow for the 2019-2020 academic year. 

She has over 15 years of experience in community-based agencies serving individuals and families that have experienced trauma. Tara is currently Co-Director of the Trauma Informed Child and Adolescent Program at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, serves as a clinical supervisor at a victim’s services agency in New York City and is adjunct faculty at the NYU Silver School of Social Work. 

Tara is Asian, born in England to an Indian father and a White-American mother and moved to New York City in 2009. She is a mother and partner, and has both personal & professional experience in the nuances & sensitivities raised in multiracial, multicultural and interfaith families.
