Elana Lancaster

Associate Director for Training, Gender & Family Project

Elana Lancaster (he/him) is the Associate Director for Training at the Ackerman Institute’s Gender & Family Project. With over 15 years of experience specializing in LGBTQ+ health and inclusion, Elana’s work as an educator and consultant has included partnerships with the New York City Department of Health, New York University Grossman School of Medicine, GMHC, the Unity Project Faith Network, and the New York City Office of Citywide Equity and Inclusion.

His research interests include trauma-informed care, healthcare self-advocacy, and LGBTQ+ families, and he is a frequent presenter at national and regional conferences on best practices in teaching about transgender health and inclusion. Elana is also a contributor to The Reproductive Justice Briefing Book Volume 2, and an award-winning storyteller who teaches workshops on storytelling as a tool for art, activism, and community advocacy.
