Trainee Spotlight: Kerrie Mohr Wins the Chernick Scholarship Award

Chernick Scholarship Award Ceremony

We are proud to spotlight Kerrie Mohr, a second-year extern who was recently nominated for the Sandy Chernick Memorial Scholarship—a recognition that speaks volumes about her dedication, compassion, and excellence in clinical work. Also nominated and awarded was Ambar Perez-Scroggins–congratulations to you both!

To honor Kerrie Mohr, we hosted a scholarship reception where Marybeth Jordan, her supervisor, and Alison Chernick, daughter of Sandra Chernick, shared heartfelt remarks celebrating Kerrie’s impact and how she embodies the values that Sandra held dear.

Kerrie has quickly distinguished herself as a deeply compassionate and skillful clinician, embodying the authentic spirit and creative energy that defined Sandy Chernick. Her commitment to each client shines through in her work with families and couples across the lifespan, including some particularly complex and challenging cases. Whether finding innovative ways to engage a young child and parent or navigating the nuances of couples therapy, Kerrie consistently brings empathy, curiosity, and a full-hearted presence to every session.

Described by her supervisor as passionate, knowledgeable, and always eager to learn, Kerrie is fully committed to her growth as a family therapist. Her openness in supervision and pursuit of meaningful learning opportunities make her a valued member of the externship program.

Keep up the amazing work, Kerrie—your future is bright!
