We are proud to celebrate Amita Lal, who has been named a Teaching Fellow in Ackerman’s Foundations of Family Therapy program. Amita is a 2024 graduate of the Clinical Externship in Family Therapy, where she distinguished herself as a thoughtful, committed clinician and learner.
Amita shared her excitement and gratitude for this new role, writing: “As someone who is deeply invested in both the theory and practice of systemic work, I would be honored to support students in exploring foundational ideas and clinical nuances of this field and its intersection with social justice.”
In addition to her Ackerman training, Amita brings a strong background in individual, couple, and family therapy, with psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and topic-specific training in areas such as race, culture, and compulsive behaviors. She maintains a private practice where she works with adults, families, and couples.
We look forward to the inspiration and care she will bring to the next generation of family therapists. Congratulations, Amita!
