In Memory of Thomas Kahn

Dear Ackerman Community,

Thomas Kahn

It is with great sadness that the Ackerman Institute for the Family shares the news of the passing of Thomas Kahn, a generous friend and dedicated supporter of Ackerman. Thomas passed away on August 17, 2026, at the age of 83.

A respected investor and philanthropist, Thomas dedicated his life not only to his work but also to supporting organizations and causes that mattered deeply to him. His commitment to the Ackerman Institute reflected his belief in the importance of strengthening families and supporting the relationships at the heart of our lives.

Thomas’s generosity extended far beyond philanthropy. He treasured family and friendship, always making room at his table for others and finding joy in bringing people together. He will be remembered for his intellectual curiosity, his zest for life, his generosity of spirit, and the many people whose lives he touched.

We are deeply grateful for Thomas’s friendship and support of the Ackerman Institute and for the difference his generosity has made in the lives of families and in the field of family therapy.

We extend our deepest condolences to his wife, Marilyn; his children, Andrew, Elizabeth, and Victoria; his stepdaughter, Randee; his grandchildren and step-grandchildren; his brother, Alan; and his extended family, friends, and colleagues.
