Dear Ackerman Community,
It is with great sorrow that the Ackerman Institute for the Family shares the news of the peaceful passing of devoted member of the Board of Directors, Linda Ellen Pepis Dishy. Linda passed away at her home on the morning of May 9, 2026.
An exceptional clinician and trusted confidant, Linda dedicated her life to guiding hundreds of individuals and families through their hardest times. After earning her MA in French from NYU and teaching as a Fulbright fellow in France, she received her MSW from Columbia University, launching a deeply impactful career in family therapy. Linda brought her wisdom and compassion to the Ackerman Institute, serving as an invaluable leader on our board. Beyond her clinical devotion, she was a skilled portrait photographer, an avid gardener, and a fervent reader.
We are immensely grateful and indebted to Linda for her years of dedicated service and leadership, and she will be deeply missed. We extend our deepest condolences to her husband of nearly 66 years, Bernie, her children Andrea, David, and Jocelyn, her grandchildren, and all her beloved family, friends, and colleagues.
