Refining the Truths We Can Tell Each Other: Multi-cultural Couple Therapy

In this presentation, SWD and Extern Alum Michelle Snow and SWD Alum Mali Sicora will present an analysis of an experiential couples therapy session in which the therapist and supervision team join the clients in an open conversation about dimensions of culture and how systems of oppression impact lived experiences as women of color.

Presenters:

Mali SicoraMali Sicora (She/Her/Hers) holds a Masters in Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and is a graduate of Ackerman’s Social Work and Diversity Program class of 2019. She served as co-director to the program for the last two years. Mali has a small private practice in Brooklyn. 

Michelle Snow Michelle Snow, LMSW (She/Her/Hers) is a graduate of Ackerman Institute’s Social Work and Diversity Program and post-graduate Clinical Externship Program. Michelle holds a master’s degree from Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Modern Culture and Media from Brown University. Prior to her career as a therapist, Michelle worked at the intersection of technology and creativity to bring relational ethics to building online communities, and was a co-founder of a multidisciplinary artist residency. She now works at a group private practice in lower Manhattan providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families.
