Alumni Lecture Recap: Between Pink & Blue: A Multidimensional Approach to Supporting Families of Gender Expansive Youth

Written by Ackerman Institute. Posted in News Blog

Astin Brown, LCSW and Rebecca Ross, LCSW, members of the Gender and Family Project, presented the first lecture of this year’s Ackerman Alumni lecture series with Between Pink & Blue: A Multidimensional Approach to Supporting Families of Gender Expansive Youth. The October 7th lecture reviewed parental reactions to nonconforming gender developments of their children, posing that the parental mandates of protection and acceptance are problematized by the difference of gender norms between the child and the family, as well as the child and environment. Arnie Angerman, the new Alumni Association President began with a brief introduction and thanked the presenters in addition to Ackerman faculty member, David Kezur, LCSW for his work organizing the lecture.

Open to Ackerman Alumni and guests, this evening lecture series provides an opportunity for alumni to earn CEUs while strengthening their relationships a community of family therapists. Learn more about the Ackerman Alumni Association.

Join us on January 20th for our next lecture organized by the Ackerman Alumni Association, Critical Consciousness as a Foundational Structure for Healing Practices, presented by Rhea Almeida, PhD.
