Expired Sibling Fights are Good: Learning Lifelong Skills

Join us for Ackerman’s free webinar series for parents and caregivers. Created by family therapy experts, these webinars are designed to help parents and caregivers to support their child’s mental health across a diverse range of subjects. Webinars are free to attend and will be held online via Zoom.

Program Description:

Sibling fights are not always about sibling rivalry. Parents and caregivers of young/preteen children often turn to books or pediatricians for help in dealing with the children’s fights and, while most information they get is probably helpful, one aspect that rarely seems to be discussed is how important fights are for the little ones.

It is through managing their own fights that children can learn skills most helpful for their adult years. This webinar discusses some of the skills children need to learn as well as techniques for helping parents and caregivers enhance these skills.

Presenter:

Karen Gail Lewis, MSW, EdD, marriage and family therapist, has been in private practice for over 50 years. She is author of numerous books on marriage, gender communication, single women, and siblings. Her newest book is Sibling Therapy: The Ghosts from Childhood That Haunt Your Clients’ Love and Work. She loves helping parents and caregivers think about sibling issues from a different perspective.
