Working with Consensual Non-Monogamy in Therapy

In this engaging 90-minute webinar, we’ll explore the ever changing world of consensually non-monogamous (CNM) relationships. Clinicians will gain fluency in the language and diverse structures of CNM, while developing practical skills to support clients in cultivating the joyful, loving relationships they choose. We’ll also reflect on the personal beliefs and biases we bring into the therapy room learning how to recognize and work with them skillfully, so they don’t interfere with the therapeutic process.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Engage in generative self-of-the-therapist work
  • Develop a more CNM-inclusive and nuanced framework for therapy
  • Use basic CNM terminology appropriately4. help clients communicate better and manage emotions and patterns commonly related to CNM

Meet Alexis Diaz:

Alexis DiazAlexis (they/them) is a licensed clinical social worker with more than a decade of experience in a variety of settings; from outreach, to clinics, to schools, & nonprofits. They are a small business owner, offering counseling, consultation, and teaching with a focus on queer and trans people of color as well as those working towards social & environmental justice. Alexis is a professor at the Silberman School of Social Work and supervises clinicians at the Gender & FamilyProject and the Ackerman Institute for the Family. They’re from a middle-class, Puerto Rican family– big in people, opinions, personalities, and stories! Alexis is an introvert, a bike commuter, a YA lit superfan, and a home fermentation nerd.
