Foundations Teaching Fellow

Amita Lal s a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience working across a range of settings, including cancer care, immigrant and refugee services, and long-term supportive psychotherapy. Her clinical work has focused on supporting patients and their loved ones as they navigate difficult terrains related to love, work or conflicts and confusions within themselves.
She holds an MSW from the Columbia University School of Social Work and has completed advanced training in interpersonal psychoanalysis, self psychology, and ego psychology. Amita has also pursued specialized training in couples and family therapy through the Ackerman Institute’s Externship Program and the William Alanson White Institute.
In addition to her private practice, Amita is a Teaching Fellow at the Ackerman Institute for the Family. She brings a thoughtful, collaborative, and culturally responsive approach to both her clinical and teaching work.
