Cynthia Chestnut

Dr. Cynthia Chestnut is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Approved Supervisor and Clinical Fellow for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). She received a doctorate degree from Drexel University in Couple and Family Therapy and is a graduate of New Life Bible Institute. Dr. Chestnut is an Assistant Professor in Capella University’s Marriage and Family Therapy Program with over 25 years of experience as a therapist, supervisor, author, and researcher. She co-founded a couple and family therapy program, set up counseling programs in churches, and was a Consultant in Child Welfare in the City of Philadelphia, PA. She is trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and serves Multiple Employee Assistant Programs (EAP) in crisis management. Dr. Chestnut is a social constructivist who values an integrative approach to cultural competence and healing trauma.
