The goal of this series is to train the next wave of experts in ambiguous loss. The Ackerman Institute has teamed with Dr. Pauline Boss, renowned family therapist and pioneer in the study of ambiguous loss to contribute to her body of knowledge in this crucial area of work.

Dr. Pauline Boss will be joined by Dr. Elizabeth Weiling, Professor at the University of Georgia and expert in trauma interventions for complex PTSD. Dr. Weiling teamed with Dr. Boss after 9/11 to work with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) families whose loved ones were missing.

These workshops will give mental health professionals expertise in what Dr. Boss and Dr. Weiling describe as, the most difficult kind of relational loss. Practitioners will learn how to effectively support their clients and are invited to carry forward the work of ambiguous loss for future generations.
