Faith-Based Couple and Family Therapy Certificate Program Policies
The policies listed below apply to The Ackerman Faith-Based Couple and Family Therapy Certificate Program.
Application Requirements
Applicants must serve as a faith leader or be an aspiring faith leader. A faith leader is defined as anyone in their religious or spiritual environment who has a role in affecting attitudes, behaviors, and/or counseling of faith-based community members or anyone in their religious or spiritual environment aspiring to serve as a faith leader.
To apply to the Faith-Based Couple and Family Therapy Certificate Program, applicants will submit the following:
- CV / Resume
- Letter of recommendation
- Personal Statement: In 200 words, please describe your history and work as a faith leader and how the Faith-Based Couple and Family Therapy Certificate Program will enhance your services.
- Completed online application form
- $100 application fee is waived for 2025–26 academic year
Applicants must be a faith leader or spiritual influencer, and hold a Bachelor’s Degree or advanced degree in any discipline.
Applications must be received by the posted application deadline.
Admissions Decisions
Applicants will be notified of acceptance or denial by email within 10 business days of receipt of the application.
The Ackerman Institute thoroughly considers all credentials and application materials. We may not be able to accept all qualified trainees as competition is great each year for the limited number of spots in our program.
Continuing Education Benefit for CE Contact Hours
The Faith-Based Couple and Family Therapy Certificate Program does not offer continuing education contact hours.
Tuition Policy
- Faith-Based Couple and Family therapy tuition is due in full August 1st of your Enrollment Year.
- A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 is due 10 business days after receipt of admissions letter.
- After submitting your deposit, trainees must pay a $100 fee to be opted into the payment plan.
- Payments made after the deadline are subject to a $25.00 late fee, and may result in de-enrollment.
- We accept American Express, Mastercard, Visa, and PayPal. Cash and checks are not accepted.
Monthly Payment Plan
The Ackerman Institute offers core curriculum trainees a 10-month interest-free payment plan.
- Trainees enrolling in a monthly payment plan are required to pay a $500.00 deposit due 10 business days after receipt of their admissions letter.
- Total tuition will be divided equally into 10 monthly installments. An automatic charge will be placed on the trainee’s credit card on the 15th of every month beginning August 15th and ending the following May 15th.
- A $25.00 late fee will be charged if a credit card is declined and not charged by the 20th of the month.
- To request payment plan enrollment, applicants must enroll at the time of their admission confirmation with a non-refundable $100.00 payment plan enrollment fee.
Financial Aid
Financial aid is not available for the Faith-Based Couple and Family Therapy Certificate Program.
The Ackerman Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that relies on donors and earned revenue to work toward our mission. The full expense of training at Ackerman is subsidized by the generosity of our donors. Your tuition fees cover only a small portion of this expense. We thank you for investing in your professional future and for supporting the Ackerman Institute for the Family.
Completing the Program
Trainees must be admitted into the Faith-Based Couple and Family Therapy Certificate Program by completing the online application form, and completing all four consecutive curriculum components.
Certificates will be issued within two weeks of program completion.
Program Withdrawal
Trainees withdrawing from the program must request a program withdrawal form from the Ackerman Admissions Department. To request return to the program, deferred trainees will complete the current year’s admissions application requirements. Coursework that is five or more years old must be repeated. Tuition fees are non-refundable.
Trainees requesting a leave of absence must request a Leave of Absence form from the Ackerman Admissions Department. A leave of absence may be granted for up to two trimesters.
Technology Requirements
This course will be presented online via Zoom. Trainees are required to attend online classes from a computer in good working condition with a strong WiFi connection. For the best experience, we recommend using headphones and a microphone during class meetings.
Trainees are not permitted to record class meetings. Unauthorized recordings may result in termination from the program.
