2018 Social Work and Diversity Program Alumni Reunion

Written by Ackerman Institute. Posted in News Blog

Ackerman’s Social Work and Diversity Program held its 2018 alumni class reunion on May 9th, where alumni enjoyed an opportunity to share professional accomplishments, network with former classmates, and meet the SWD Class of 2018.

Program Directors Laurie Kaplan and Sippio Small were honored for their commitment to increasing the number of therapists of color in the field of family therapy.

Lisa Lavelle, Ackerman’s Director of Training and Clinical Services (SWD ’98), presented the honorees with books on social justice signed by alumni. Following the ceremony, Sippio gave a moving speech encouraging SWD alumni to have confidence in their skills as the next generation of family therapists.
