This workshop introduces and defines both kink/BDSM and intimate partner violence (IPV). Dr. Sheff will explain the characteristics of kinky relationships and interactions, explore consent, distinguish between BDSM and IPV, and explain how they might intersect in some relationships.
Learning Objectives:
- To list important elements of kink/BDSM
- To list important elements of intimate partner violence
- To compare kinky sex with intimate partner violence and explain the similarities and differences between them
- To explain changes to diagnoses of kink/paraphilias
